Our Proven Process Delivers Superior Results
Once you contact us, we walk through a quick discovery session to identify the specific needs of your project, whether that is a single disc, a multi-disc set, a DVD series, or a DVD/Blu-ray combo project. It is always our aim to provide a lightweight and streamlined process as possible, depending on the complexities of the project. The typical DVD project process looks something like this:
1. DVD Project Discovery Session
We learn your goals, and the requirements of your project.
2. The Project Timeline is defined
We have a great track record for finishing ahead of schedule.
3. Project Flowchart
We determine the navigational flow and organizational structure of the DVD. The flowchart also includes all the copy to be used in the DVD menu system, a critical step for an efficient design process.
4. Menu Design, Review, and Approval
Our talented creative staff develops motion and/or static menus. Some clients like to provide their own menus, and we are happy to accommodate that as well, providing your designer with detailed guidelines for working with graphics for video.
5. Subtitle Development
If the disc will feature subtitles, we like to get these started as early in the process as possible. World-class transcription and translation services are also available.
6. Video and Audio Encoding
If content is HD, we downconvert it to SD using proprietary lossless techniques to deliver the highest quality encode. We then encode the video in our CineVision Professional encoder and QC the encoded video stream. Audio is encoded using the Dolby stereo or Dolby 5.1 surround, unless space allows for uncompressed audio.
7. DVD Authoring
We program the DVD or DVD Disc Set, and then perform extensive quality assurance testing on all the functions of the disc.
8. Client DVD Review and Approval
We send you a number of review copies of the disc. Some clients also have us send discs to 3rd party testing facilities. Because our internal standards are so high, we have a tremendous track record for getting things right the first time. But if a problem is found, we resolve the issue as quickly as possible to move the project along.
9. Disc Image Premastering
We set the appropriate copy protection schemes and generate the data from which the glass master will be made. If the disc is not targeted for mass replication, we simply create several master discs. (We provide you with more than one, so that one can be your working master, and the other can be your file master.)
10. Archive the Project
We back up all of our clients' Advanced Custom projects onto LTO5 data tape. While hard drives demagnetize over time and could fail unexpectedly, LTO5 has a recognized archival life of 30 years. Even in the way we archive your data, we are positioned to be your long-term video delivery resource.
11. Tell Us How We Did
We believe that part of building a relationship with our clients means listening. We want to know what we're doing right as well as how we can improve our services to create a greater value and lasting benefit to our amazing client family.
Need Blu-ray, too?
Great! We have special discounts available for clients who wish to create both DVD and
Blu-ray versions of their film or video product.
And our Blu-ray Authoring services feature the same professional family of tools and expertise that have become synonymous with our DVD services.
